Entangled Brazen

Blurb

A sexy category romance from Entangled's Brazen imprint...
He's not who she expected, but he's exactly the man she needs…

When Chelsea Wayne drags Santa into a supply closet for a little office party nookie, she assumes the man in the suit is her on-again/off-again coworker boyfriend. Instead, it's Rafe St. Sebastian, a man known for his hard-driving ways in business as well as the bedroom--and, kill her now, the brand spanking new owner of Las Ventanas--who grants her naughtiest Christmas wishes.

So much for her reputation, not to mention her career.

Rafe needs to close three acquisitions to prove to his father he's ready to take the helm of St. Sebastian Enterprises. A hot interlude in a supply closet after deal number two seems like the perfect illicit Christmas bonus. Unfortunately, when that "bonus" becomes the key to the final deal, he finds himself back in bed--so to speak--with Chelsea, and after their steamy tryst, he's not interested in keeping things professional

“There is nothing personal between us.”
“I beg to differ. In fact, I’m fairly certain I know your deepest, darkest secret.”
“I sincerely doubt that.”
He brought his mouth to her ear. “You knew I wasn’t Paul.”
“No.” The denial, though immediate, sounded slightly breathless, slightly desperate.
She had to have at least suspected, at some point. He refused to believe otherwise. “Not at first. But when I had you clinging to the tables, trembling so hard you could barely stand? You knew.”
“You-you’re delusional. If I’d realized you weren’t Paul, don’t you think I would have stopped you?”
“No. By the time you realized, you didn’t care.” The crowd around them erupted into a countdown.
Ten... He cupped her jaw in one hand...
Nine... and slid the other down her back. Then lower. Eight... “You didn’t care about anything except my tongue tracing the path of your thong”—he let his fingers do the honor now—“all the way down until I could taste your sweet, throbbing little—”
“I thought you were Paul!” Her wide eyes darted to his, pupils huge.
Five... “Remember how you used your body to beg for more? There’s no f-ing way you’ve ever begged like that for Paul Barrington. No f-ing way. I could have you begging again.”
Her breathing came in quick, shallow pants. The hands she’d rested lightly on his shoulders tightened, bunching his jacket in a white-knuckled grip. She shook her head. “Not going to happen.”
Three... He was risking getting his face slapped in the middle of a dance floor on New Year’s Eve, but he didn’t care. For some inexcusable reason, he needed to know she wanted him, not Barrington.
Two... He spread his palm over the perfect curve of her ass and hauled her against him, so she’d feel just how well he remembered every damn detail of their last meeting.
One...
“It’s not?” he challenged, and then crushed her lips under his.
Cheers of “Happy New Year” echoed around them over the strains of “Auld Lang Syne.” A flotilla of black and silver balloons sailed down from the ceiling. Guests laughed, and sang, and jostled them while he kissed her. Sparkly, star- shaped confetti rained over everyone and everything, and he kept right on kissing her. Her arms twined around his neck. Her lips parted. She flattened one hand against the back of his head and held on. When he bent her over his arm and swept his tongue into her soft, yielding mouth, she wrapped her leg around his hip. The heat of her body practically seared his thigh through his tuxedo pants.
He trapped her lower lip between his teeth and nibbled. There went his no biting promise, but her shuddery moan told him she didn’t mind.
The song ended. The house lights came up a few notches. He slowly drew her upright, and even more slowly relinquished her mouth. She stared up at him, dazed, her lips plumped from their kiss.
“You’re a terrible liar, Miss Wayne.”
Giving her a grin he hoped didn’t reveal how much the move cost him, he walked away.

Compromising Her Position turned out to be one of those books that gives you a good, solid story with characters that are likable and relatable, then also throws in a nice dose of steamy scenes and a bit of humor to keep you entertained, engaged...and a bit...hot under the collar.  This is the first time I've read anything by this author, and I'm pleased to say that this story has me adding more of her titles to my TBR list.

There's a few different tropes thrown in here including boss/employee and mistaken identity, plus the added drama of Rafe trying to please his father in order to take the helm of the family business, as well as his player ways being tamed.  I found this to be a nice mix to keep my attention (though those steamy scenes sure did a damn good job of that anyway), and it made for an interesting storyline that has its own unique points.

I liked the characters, especially Chelsea who I found to be feisty and someone who can give as good as she gets.  Rafe felt pretty typical for the character type he was casted as, with his alpha male attitude, but still serious when he needs to be. He and Chelsea fit really well together with plenty of chemistry that will have you rooting for them to become a permanent couple.  And as for the supporting cast, I found Arden and Laurie to be strong characters with plenty of spirit (especially Arden), Paul to be exactly the ass he's portrayed as, and Cindy to be a perfect "I hate her" character.

A fun and engaging read, Compromising Her Position gets 4 enthusiastic stars from me, and is recommended for contemporary romance fans 18+ due to adult language and quite a bit of very hot, sensual sexual content.  Yup, bring your ice packs and fans-you're going to need them!

by Katy Regnery

Blurb

Christopher Winslow, the youngest of the four Winslow brothers, was born with a silver spoon in his privileged mouth, which has made it difficult for him to establish his credibility in the fast-approaching congressional race. Working against the clock to assure Pennsylvania voters that he is forthright, trustworthy and able has been an exhausting challenge, but Christopher's chances at beating the incumbant look good.

Julianne Crow, a plus-size model struggling to make ends meet, jumps at the chance to make a little extra cash on the side. What does she have to do? Slip something into Christopher Winslow's drink and take some very naughty pictures with him.

But Christopher is nothing like Julianne expected, and when her actions sabotage his hard-earned campaign only a month before the election, her guilt is overwhelming. She offers Christopher her help in an effort to repair the damage she's caused, but can anything change the fact that he sees her as an opportunist and a mercenary? When she starts campaigning for Christopher, he may find out there's more to her than meets the eye.

Return to the world created in the English Brothers books with this fresh foursome of scorching hot Winslow Brothers!

Excerpt

Did she like him? She barely knew him.
All told, their relationship consisted of some flirty banter, her drugging him and taking lewd photos of him, showing up at his headquarters, finding out he hated her with the heat of a thousand suns, becoming his fake girlfriend, kissing him like the world was about to end, having her feelings hurt by his furious comments, knocking a cup of coffee out of his hands, and being kicked out of his office.
Not exactly an auspicious beginning.
Then again, she admired that he was only in his twenties and running for Congress. From what she knew of his platform, she admired his principles and policies. Just from the short amount of time she'd spent with him, she could tell he stood on a moral high ground. He was smart and driven, successful and hardworking, . . . and he hated every last centimeter of her guts.
Did she like him?
"What is there to like?" she asked Shappa, who turned and walked away as though embarrassed for her.
"I mean it!" she called after her cat. "What? His insults? His unforgiving, thankless demands? His disrespect? His nonstop cussing?" When she finished her tirade, she found herself perched on the edge of her chair, rigid with indignation, and suddenly slumped down, all the wind knocked from her sails as she recalled his face on Saturday night when he first laid eyes on her. The searing heat of his gaze. The wonder that took over his face as he stared at her like she'd just fallen from heaven.
"His fingers woven through mine," she said weakly, recalling their walk down a brambled path.
His light hair catching the sunlight yesterday on the steps of the campaign headquarters. The way his arm felt around her waist. His lips moving hungrily over hers.
Your eyes are like the night sky. The universe. The heavens and a million stars.
She sighed softly.
Of course she liked him.

About the Author
Katy Regnery, award-winning and Amazon bestselling author, started her writing career by enrolling in a short story class in January 2012. One year later, she signed her first contract for a winter romance entitled By Proxy. Now a hybrid author who publishes both independently and traditionally, Katy claims authorship of the six-book Heart of Montana series, the six-book English Brothers series, and a Kindle Worlds novella entitled “Four Weddings and a Fiasco: The Wedding Date,” in addition to the standalone novels, Playing for Love at Deep Haven and Amazon bestseller, The Vixen and the Vet. The Vixen and the Vet is included in the charity anthology Hometown Heroes: Hotter Ever After, and Katy’s novella “Frosted” will appear in the upcoming (Jan ’15) anthology, Snowy Days Steamy Nights. Additionally, Katy’s short story, “The Long Way Home” will appear in the first RWA anthology (Feb ’15), Premiere. Katy lives in the relative wilds of northern Fairfield County, Connecticut, where her writing room looks out at the woods, and her husband, two young children, and two dogs create just enough cheerful chaos to remind her that the very best love stories begin at home.

In case you missed my review when it first posted...

So, it's no secret that I absolutely adore Katy Regnery's Blueberry Lane series, and as I read through the English Brothers and now through the Winslow Brothers, every book has seemed even better than the last. This time around, I'm a bit surprised because I'm actually sort of on the fence for Campaigning for Christopher. Not for the overall story, mostly for certain parts.

I am totally head over heels for Christopher Winslow (no surprise there). It's virtually impossible not to be-he's honest, loyal, fights for what he believes in and what's right, and let's not forget he's a Winslow brother so of course he's hot...sexy...gorgeous...pick your favorite adjective and just keep listing them here.

Jules, well...I liked everything about her character with one big exception--the decision she made at the beginning that led to the sabotaging of Christopher's campaign...I have a really hard time getting past that, especially since the action she took was based on well...pretty much squat. But besides that, I didn't feel the connection between her and Christopher like I did with all the other Blueberry Lane couples. I didn't really sense the intensity between them-maybe it's just me, maybe it's what she did to him when they first met...I'm not sure.

But even with my reservations, the story itself (once I get past the above issues) is still compelling and does cover some serious topics while still weaving a tale of romance and falling for someone you'd least expect. You'll also find the classic intimate scenes we've come to expect in a Blueberry Lane story (mostly toward the end, though there's sexual tension throughout the whole book).

With all that said, I'm giving Campaigning for Christopher 3.75 stars (rounding to 4). Not quite what I was hoping when I started the story, but still this is a very good read, and fans of the series will definitely want to add this to their collection. Recommended for 18+ due to adult language and sexual content.

"Stella," I heard Atlas growl from the end of the hall. Only a few dozen feet of expensive hardwood floor separated us.

The sound of his deep and commanding voice pushed one more burst of will through me. I could hear my own cries as I punched the rest of the shards away. The glass digging into my skin didn't register in my mind as I tried to push my body through the thin opening. I was able to fit the upper half of my body through before I felt a hand grab my leg.

"You f*cking bitch." One of the goons had my leg and yanked me roughly back.

"Let go!" I cried and kicked. My bare foot connected with a hard body and I was released.

Hearing my name called once more, I used every ounce of strength to pull myself the rest of the way. Glass and wood scraped at my skin, but I didn't stop. I could feel the cool night air on my skin. I could smell the rain that had recently fallen and saw the moon hidden in the clouds in the sky. I was outside!

The night was so dark I couldn't see a more than few feet in front of me. I actually couldn't see any light in the distance at all.

My heartbeat thumped and my breath came in hard pants as I ran away from the house. I could hear the shouts for me, and Atlas barking commands, but I couldn't look back. It didn't matter that I had no idea where I was going. My bare feet hit the gravel and my body cut through the night air as I sprinted up the gravel drive. I had to keep going. I had to lose him and find help. I just had to keep running.

"Stella! Stop!" My heart stopped when I heard Atlas's voice behind me.

In a panic, I turned off to the right into the tall grass. I could hear him cursing as he entered the thick brush behind me. The grass and branches slapped my bare skin, stinging me. This would be my only hope to lose him and get away. I kept running, ignoring the pain and shortness of breath until I couldn't hear him any longer.

Bent over with my hands on my knees, I struggled to breathe. Every gasp of air burned and my entire body ached. I couldn't see in the darkness, and all I could hear was my own heartbeat pounding. Even the moon had been swallowed by the clouds. Goosebumps trailed over my sweaty skin as I noticed how very lost and screwed I really was.

"There's nowhere to go, Stella," his voice surrounded me. "You won't get away."

F*ck! Just when I thought I was alone, he had found me. A cry escaped my lips and I tried to run, only to be pulled back. My back hit a hard body behind me at the same time a hand clamped over my mouth. My cries and screams were muffled under the pressure of his hand. Another arm snaked around my chest and fingers wrapped around my throat.

"Shh," Atlas whispered in my ear. "That was f*cking stupid. So stupid. You're hurt now."

I lashed out against him but it was pointless. The hand around my throat tightened in warning. His hold was strong and held me immobile in his arms. I slumped against him in defeat and despair. All the strength and determination leaked out of my body.

He found me. I ran and he caught me. I was warned how foolish it would be to run and now I would have to face the consequences. Tears streamed down my face and over his hand as the adrenaline wore off and reality sank in. Everything hurt and it was only Atlas holding me up on my feet.

His lips brushed my ear, sending a shiver down my spine. "Don't you dare f*cking scream, understand?"

I nodded once and his fingers slowly lifted from my mouth and wrapped around my waist. I pulled in a deep breath, feeling the pain in my ribs with the inhale. Atlas tilted my head back while still keeping his grip on my throat. Even though I couldn't see his face, I felt his hard stare on me. Anger was rolling off his body in hot waves, and every muscle pressed to me was rock hard.

Tour-Review, Excerpt & Giveaway: How to Deal by TM Smith (An All Cocks Story #3)

How to Deal

An All Cocks Story Book #3

Jon Brennan comes from a long line of men in uniform; all born and bred to both bleed and wear blue. His family and the majority of his co-workers support him every step of the way, so he doesn’t need to hide the fact that he prefers men over women. Between the job and his larger than life, loud and rowdy half Irish, half Italian family, there isn’t much time for dating, much less finding a guy that can deal with the stress and demands placed on the shoulders of an NYPD Detective.

Kory White is cocky and abrasive with most people, but it is all a mirage, a façade he hides behind to keep his heart safe. As a child, Kory lost his mother to an act of violence. Soon after, he and his baby sister Kassandra were separated by the system. Kassandra was immediately adopted, but Kory spent the next ten years cycling through foster homes before moving to the Big Apple. In an effort to keep everyone at a distance, Kory has meticulously built himself an alter ego: Hayden Cox, All Cocks’ cockiest model.

These two strong willed men definitely prove opposites do attract. Both are stubborn and hard headed to a fault, Kory more so than Jon. But Jon is used to being in control, the one calling the shots, and Kory fights him at every turn. Just when it seems they have found a way to navigate the unchartered territory that is love, tragedy knocks on Kory’s door yet again. Volatile and strong, even in the face of adversity, both men refuse to give up on each other - or their love.

“Oh my god, is that a smile?” Jordan smirked at Kory over the rim of his coffee cup.
“F*ck off, Jordan.” Kory muttered, shoving him out of the way and grabbing a mug out of the cabinet.
“Play nice, boys!” Andrew shouted from the den.
“Careful Kory, people might actually start to believe you have a personality.” Jordan continued to poke fun at him.
“Kiss my ass,” Kory growled, shoving past Jordan as he headed back upstairs with his steaming cup of coffee.

“At least we’ve moved past f*ck off. Dating Jon is working wonders for your vocabulary!” Jordan yelled after him.

My Review

After the overly brash and cocky attitude I had come to expect from Kory based on the first two books, I was curious as to how his story would play out here in How to Deal.  But while I was expecting a nonstop smartass, I got to see the rest of Kory's personality instead.  It was actually pretty entertaining since all that self-assuredness flew out the window when it came to interacting with Jon and Jon's family.
Jon is a fantastic character--laid back, easygoing, but then very alpha and assertive when it's called for...which makes for some pretty interesting scenes between him and Kory (who you'd expect to be the dominant top based on the first two books).  Jon knows exactly how to handle Kory, no matter how Kory tries to short circuit their relationship.
There's drama and strong emotion--something I've now come to expect from this series (I'd be disappointed if it was missing)--which really drags the other side of Kory's personality to the forefront and lets us see him in a whole new light.  Seeing his reaction to events that happen with Jon and how that really opens Kory up to emotion was moving and showed even greater depth to his character.  He and Jon work extremely well together, giving us another strong match to celebrate in the All Cocks family.  Because yes, they are all definitely a family.
The only thing that bugged me about this story-and the only reason this is 4 stars for me instead of more-is how things played out at the end with the sub-plot of Kory and his sister. In my opinion, how this is resolved is based way too much on coincidence which for me diminishes the believability of the situation's resolution.
How to Deal is another success in the All Cocks series, and just keeps me wanting to hear more and more about the characters in this unique family.  4 stars, recommended for fans of M/M romance 18+ due to adult language and explicit M/M sexual content.
