Blurb

A summer fling is an ideal cure for a broken heart. But when it's with your best friend, things get complicated.

When Adam is dumped by his boyfriend, a week away at a beach resort seems like a great opportunity to get over his ex. Sun, sea, and no-strings sex will be just the boost he needs to move on with his life.

Adam's best friend, Finn, agrees to accompany him at short notice. Finn's had a crush on Adam for years, but is determined to put his feelings aside and be the perfect wingman in Adam's time of crisis.

A spontaneous threesome with another guy forces Adam and Finn to confront their attraction to each other. Having a holiday fling together wasn't part of the plan, and as their trip heats up, they soon realise that one night of fun won't be enough for either of them.

The passion might be scorching, but their hearts and friendship are on the line. If their romance is going to survive the flight home, they have to be honest about what they want.

Carra's Review

I am such a sucker for friends to lovers romance, and Jay Northcote has a fantastic one here with Summer Heat.  Oh yes…HEAT.  As in get yourself a bucket of water—no, make that a bucket of ice cubes, a frozen drink, and add a high-powered fan as well to your reading accessories because you’re going to need them.

After Adam’s unexpected breakup with his jackass of an ex, he turns to his best friend Finn for support.  Both men set out on a vacation Adam had already booked before the breakup to try and help him get over the ex, not expecting that it might be Finn personally helping out with that.  And holy wow does he do an excellent job…

Adam and Finn were already close as best friends, and Finn has actually been crushing on Adam ever since they met.  Toss in what happens while they’re away and it’s a recipe for attraction, buoyed by intense emotions that the two of them coming together brings out.  While Finn already had a thing for Adam, Adam is now seeing Finn in a whole new way—a way that he’s not expecting and that stirs intense feelings for him.  Once the two of them embark on what’s meant to be only a vacation fling, emotion starts creeping in and the chemistry skyrockets.

Adam and Finn are SO good together, and their physical connection is incredible…not to mention I thought my e-reader was going to burst into flames.  There’s just something about best friends and watching their relationship expand into so much more that I really love, and the author did an amazing job bringing these two together.  The writing was smooth and totally drew me in—I wound up finishing this in a single sitting.  This book may have only taken me a few hours to read, but it packed a nice punch and never felt rushed.

Summer Heat is an exceptional example of the way a friends to lovers story should be done, and it gets 4.5 stars from me.  I highly recommend this story to any M/M romance fan, and if you love the friends to lovers trope you’re going to be pretty damn happy with this one and want it as a permanent fixture in your library.  This one is definitely only for readers 18+ for adult language and explicit M/M sexual content including one very hot menage scene.
